Our Story

A Century Above the Amalfi Coast

In 1904 the Aurelia family converted a Benedictine seminary on the cliffs of Ravello into a house for travellers who wanted the coast without the crowds. Four generations later, the walls, the terraces and the lemon trees are the same — and so is the intention.

Every room is different because the building refused to be regular. What is constant is the view, the silence after nine in the evening, and a team of ninety who have stayed, on average, eleven years.

  • Forty-two suites and villas, each with a sea-facing private terrace
  • Two Michelin stars at Ristorante Belvedere, held since 2011
  • A grotto spa carved into the original 1904 wine cellars
  • Twenty minutes from Amalfi harbour by our own private launch

In The Press

Aurelia does not chase the new; it quietly perfects the old. Very few houses left in Europe still treat service as a craft rather than a script.

Amenities

Everything, Nothing You Must Do

The Grotto Spa

Six treatment rooms carved into the 1904 wine cellars, with thermal pools, a salt grotto and citrus rituals using fruit from our own terraces.

Cliffside Infinity Pool

A heated twenty-five metre pool cantilevered three hundred metres above the sea, open from first light until midnight, with a bar service that never closes.

Chef Concierge

One concierge for every six suites, arranging boat days in Positano, private openings at the Duomo, and tables that are otherwise fully booked.

Private Launch

Our twelve-metre Riva collects guests from Amalfi, Positano and Capri on request, at any hour, with a bottle of Falanghina already on ice.

Terraced Gardens

Four hectares of lemon groves, olive terraces and rose walks, tended by the Esposito family since 1962 and open to guests at every hour.

Wellness Pavilion

A glass studio above the gardens with Technogym equipment, sunrise yoga on the east terrace, and trainers available by appointment from six in the morning.

Dining

Two Stars, One Terrace

Chef Marta Peluso cooks what the boats at Cetara land that morning and what the gardens give up that afternoon. Nothing travels further than the coast road, and the wine list runs to four hundred Campanian labels.

  • Ristorante Belvedere — two Michelin stars, dinner only, 19:30 to 22:30
  • La Terrazza — all-day Mediterranean, from breakfast until sunset
  • Bar Aurelia 1904 — negronis, sea air, and a jazz trio on Thursdays
