Who we are

A small studio of travellers, not a booking counter.

Wanderlyx started in 2009 when three former tour leaders got tired of watching people photograph a place through a coach window. We build every itinerary the slow way — walking the route, eating at the family-run places, negotiating the permits ourselves.

Today we are a team of 34 across Vancouver, Lisbon and Chiang Mai. We still cap group departures at 12 people, and your advisor stays with you from the first email to the last transfer home.

Why choose us

The difference shows up on day three.

Anyone can sell you a flight and a hotel. These are the six things travellers tell us they could not have arranged alone.

Capped at 12 travellers
Every group departure stops at twelve people. Restaurants say yes, guides remember your name, and nobody waits forty minutes for a bathroom stop.
Routes we walked ourselves
No itinerary goes on sale until a Wanderlyx lead has run it end to end in the same season you will travel. If it does not work in monsoon, we say so.
A human at 3am, anywhere
Missed connection in Doha, stomach bug in Cusco, passport left in a taxi. One number, answered by someone who can actually rebook you.
Money that stays local
On average 71 cents in every dollar reaches businesses inside the country you visit. We publish the breakdown for each trip, audited annually.
Change dates, not plans
Move your departure once, free, up to 30 days before travel. Life happens — a knee operation should not cost you a holiday.
Fully bonded, properly insured
ATOL and ABTA covered, with client funds held in trust until you fly home. Your money is never used to run our business.

Destinations

Where our travellers are going this year.

Six regions with a Wanderlyx guide on the ground year-round. Every one can be run as a private departure for your own group.

Paris & the Loire
From $1,890 · 5–8 days. Left Bank walking, a private after-hours hour at the Rodin, then vineyards and chateaux by bicycle.
Dubai & the Empty Quarter
From $2,240 · 5–7 days. Skyline and souks for two days, then four hours south into the dunes for silence and Bedouin camp nights.
Iceland Aurora Chase
From $2,760 · 5 days, Oct–Mar. A meteorologist plans each night’s drive. Ice caves, black sand and a farmhouse with no light pollution.
Kenya Great Migration
From $4,380 · 8–10 days, Jul–Oct. Six guests per vehicle, conservancy camps outside the park gates, and Maasai-owned land fees paid direct.
Kyoto Cherry Blossom
From $3,420 · 8 days, late March. Ryokan nights, a tea ceremony with a ninth-generation family, and the temples at 6am before the crowds.
Santorini & the Cyclades
From $2,090 · 7 days. Caldera cave rooms, a fishing boat to Thirasia, and two quiet islands most itineraries skip entirely.

How it works

Four steps, one advisor, no call centre.

Most travellers go from first email to confirmed itinerary in under nine days. Nothing is charged until you approve the final route.

01  Tell us the shape of it
A 20-minute call or a long email, whichever you prefer. Dates, budget, who is coming, and the one thing you would be sad to miss.
02  We draft two routes
Within four working days you get two costed itineraries — the one you asked for, and the one we would book ourselves. Revise freely.
03  Lock it in
A 20% deposit holds everything, balance due 45 days out. Funds sit in a trust account, and one free date change is included.
04  Go — we stay on call
Printed and offline-ready documents, a local SIM waiting at your first hotel, and your advisor reachable on one number for the whole trip.

Questions & answers

The things people ask before they book.

If yours is not here, call us on +1 604 555 0188 — a real advisor picks up, Monday to Saturday.

Ask Us Anything

A 20% deposit confirms your places and the balance is due 45 days before departure. Deposits sit in a client trust account until you travel — we never use them as working capital. For bookings made inside 45 days the full amount is payable, and we will always tell you before you commit.

Every booking includes one free date change up to 30 days before departure, moved to any departure within 18 months. After that we pass on only what our suppliers charge us, with the invoice attached so you can see it. There is no Wanderlyx admin fee at any point.

Roughly a third of our group travellers come alone. We will pair you with a same-sex roommate at no extra cost if you would like one, and if we cannot find a match we absorb the single supplement ourselves. On private itineraries the room is yours and priced accordingly.

Each itinerary carries a one-to-five effort rating with the actual numbers — daily walking distance, altitude, number of steps, longest transfer. Santorini is a two, the Kenya migration a two, the Swiss rail journey a three, and our Patagonia routes a four. Your advisor will be honest if a trip is not right for you.

All accommodation, all internal transport, all guiding, all entrance fees, breakfast daily and any meal listed on the day-by-day. International flights are quoted separately so you can use points if you prefer. Tips are already paid to guides and drivers at a fair rate — you are never asked for an envelope at the end.

Every fare carries a mandatory levy of 1.5% split between Gold Standard removal credits and a community fund in the destination itself — last year that funded a water filtration plant in Sidemen and ranger salaries in the Mara North Conservancy. We publish the full allocation each January, audited by an outside firm.
